Southern 100 Racing are devastated hearing the news that Dan Kneen died during Wednesday evening’s practice session on the TT Mountain Course.
Onchan rider, Dan had a long association with the Southern 100, enjoying his most successful year last year, finishing second on the 1000 DTR BMW to Dean Harrison in the prestigious Manx Gas Solo Championship Race after securing three similar race finishes in the Corlett’s Trophies 1000cc race; the Ellan Vannin Fuels Senior race and the Island Aggregates Senior race behind Michael Dunlop.
2016 saw the popular rider take fourth in the Solo Championship race, with a second place in the Ellan Vannin Senior race on the 1000 Mar-train Yamaha.
Club Chairman, George Peach said: ‘Dan was such a likeable person, always had time to chat to everyone and always smiling even if everything wasn’t going to plan.
‘Dan was a great ambassador for the sport of road racing and the Isle of Man and his untimely passing will be felt for a long time – we all feel that we have lost a good friend.’
George continued: ‘On behalf of Southern 100 Racing may I extend our heartfelt sympathies to his partner Leanne, his family and his close friends at this very sad time.’
