New Sponsor for Prestigious Solo Championship Race
Southern 100 Racing promoters of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races are pleased to announce that long time race sponsor Ellan Vannin Fuels are to sponsor the coveted Southern 100 Solo Championship Race 2023 and in future years.
Ellan Vannin Fuels have been the title sponsor of the opening Superbike race on the Wednesday of Southern 100 ‘week’ since 2012.
However, the much-valued support from the Peel based company goes back to 1988, when the then fledgling TOTAL Oils first became involved with the ‘southside races’ sponsoring the full colour printed programme cover.
The following year, 1989, the oil company took on the title sponsorship of the 1300cc, now Superbike Race and have continued to do so year on year until 2012, when the now well-established company was bought from the parent company and rebranded to the name everyone is familiar with today, Ellan Vannin Fuels.
Andy Sweetman, Commercial Sales & Marketing Manager of Ellan Vannin Fuels said: ‘Ellan Vannin Fuels have been involved with the Southern 100 Road Races since the original company set up in Peel in the late nineteen-eighties and EVF have grown and developed into the business it is today, in the same way as the friendly races have grown since the first races in 1955 to the magnificent spectator event it is today.
‘It is only natural for Ellan Vannin Fuels to further enhance its involvement with the Southern 100 by adding the prestigious Solo Championship Race to its sponsorship support.’
Andy continued: ‘The names on the much coveted Derek Ennett Trophy, which is awarded to the Solo Champion have gone on to become household names, and have gone to win the Manx Grand Prix and TT winners, to world champions.’
