Sad Passing of Southern 100 Stalwart Dave Quayle

Southern 100 Racing is shocked and saddened to learn of the passing on Monday 22nd December 2025 of one of its long-time supporters and helpers, Dave Quayle.

For a good number of years, Dave was ‘mine host’ at the popular Sidings public house in Castletown, where many happy hours have been spent enjoying a ‘good pint’ and the good company of people involved with the Southern 100, be they officials, competitors or spectators, all fans of the friendly races, especially in July.

On taking early retirement from the licenced trade, Dave took up a position at King William’s College, where the Southern 100 were able to celebrate the races Diamond Jubilee in 2015, with Dave looking after the Past Champions Luncheon.

More recently Dave and Angela, took over the roll of Catering Managers for our events at the Motor Isle Billown Course, and in the short period of time that they have been in that roll, already stamped their unique high standards and quality food preparation, continuing the traditions that have helped make the Southern 100 Road Races the event that it has become today, from its beginnings in 1955.

Southern 100 Racing send their sincere condolences to wife Angela, their children, close family and friends at this extremely sad time. Rest in Peace Dave.
