Five Southern 100 Sidecar Champions Return to ‘The Friendly Races’
The ‘reigning’ Daryl Blake Construction Southern 100 Sidecar Champions, Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley head a stellar list of entries for the 2024 Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races, with no less than four previous champions returning with similar ambitions to return home with the coveted title Southern 100 Sidecar Champions 2024.
The two-time champions (2019 & 2022) will have four-time winners Tim Reeves (2013, 2015, 2016 & 2018) and Mark Wilkes to contend with along with 2012 winner Ben Birchall with new passenger Kevin Rousseau making his Billown Course debut.
To spice matters up add in 1997 champion Greg Lambert with Andrew Haynes and 1982 victors Tony Baker and Dave Ryder.
Such is the quality of the 2024 entry, it is possible to see a new name being inscribed on to the Peel Engineering & Oates / Molyneux Trophies which are presented to the Championship Driver and Passenger at the Prize Presentation in Castletown Square on Thursday evening, when the remainder of the entries reads like the crème de la crème of the sidecar teams: Wayne Lockey / Matthew Rostron; Lee Crawford / Scott Hardie; Alan Founds / Rhys Gibbons; Shaun & Ben Chandler; Steve & Matty Ramsden amongst others.
Promoters, Southern 100 Racing are also pleased to welcome two teams from France, Eric Lenser and Anais Rosset and Steveens Palacoeur and Yann Druel and hope they enjoy their debut racing experience around the 4.25-mile ColasBillown Course.
Also making their debut at the Southern 100 are Eastbourne pairing Ross Buchanan and Adam Evans, as are local Manx crew Jim and Ben Gale.
