Frank Mitchell Retires
Frank Mitchell has been and still is a very familiar figure to anyone watching the road racing action from Cross Four Ways on the Southern 100 Course.
However, at the conclusion of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races in July, Frank will be taking a well-earned rest after completing 40 years officiating from the same place.
In appreciation of his long-time service and dedication to the race organisation, Chief Marshal Peter Chadwick presented Frank with a ‘Long Service Certificate’ during a break between Practice and Racing at the Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races on Saturday 28th May 2022.
Peter Chadwick commented: Frank Mitchell has been a valued and much valued part of the Marshalling on the Billown Course for four decades. Away from the course action, he has also been a dedicated member of the Southern 100 Marshals Association Committee and has spent numerous hours in preparing for our three road races held annually.
‘On behalf of Southern 100 Racing and the Southern 100 Marshals Association, I cannot thank Frank enough for his commitment and dedication over the years and I am sure we will still see him around the Course enjoying watching the action from other vantage points. Thank you again Frank from everyone involved with the ‘friendly races’’.
