Greenlight TV Given Permission To Use Drone at Southern 100 Races

As part of Greenlight TV’s continuing progression to enhance their coverage of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races they and Southern 100 Racing have been in discussion with the Isle of Man Civil Aviation Authority and permission has been granted for Greenlight TV to make use of a special drone during the 2024 Races, which are being held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th July.

The Isle of Man CAA have issued the following Notice:

The Southern 100 Billown Circuit and surrounding area is a no-fly zone for drones because of the proximity to the airport and the possibility of drones distracting competitors. There is only one drone with permission to fly and this is the TV drone of Greenlight Television, which will be flying in the Iron Gate to Ballabeg Hairpin area exclusively. Please report any other drones to the race control.

Southern 100 Racing would respectfully remind spectators that flying any type of drone anywhere close to or on the Colas Billown Course is prohibited and the consequences could be very costly, with a heavy fine and loss of equipment.
