Southern 100 Stalwart Recognised in New Year’s Honours 2022
Southern 100 Stalwart Colin Leather has been awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Year’s Honours List for services to the Community of Castletown.
Colin has for over 20 years been involved with the Southern 100 Road Races and through his efforts has raised many thousands of pounds (£) for the Southern 100 Supporters Fund by way of walking amongst the crowds on the Castletown By-pass with his Donation Buckets during each practice and race session, helped by his long-time partner Vanda, and has not been deterred by his own serious illnesses.
Away from the Billown Course Colin has dedicated most of his life to Castletown, striving to improve the town for its residents. As one of the Island’s longest standing Commissioners, he has been Chairman of the Castletown Commissioners on six occasions and was also Secretary of Castletown Festival for 30 years.
Southern 100 Racing congratulate Colin Leather MBE on his well-deserved award, but he will not have much time to rest on his laurels as the three races organised on the Billown Course will be returning in 2022 after a two-year enforced sabbatical.
