The “Spirit of Armoy Award”
Peel photographers, Tracey and Juan Harrison have generously donated a sum of money to a Sidecar Newcomer in the Southern 100 Road Races, for which the promoters, Southern 100 Racing are very grateful.
They have also been attending the Armoy ’Race of Legends’ Road Races and made a similar gesture to the race organisers, Armoy Motorcycle Road racing Club.
Friday morning they had the pleasure of surprising a local newcomer at the Armoy Road Races – Rudi Paul with a donation of £200 which was raised from an auction we held on our Face Book page “Tracey’s Pictures”.
The item auctioned was kindly donated by Gary McKillop from the Armoy Road Racing Club – so with that in mind we decided that although the majority of our fund-raising effort is for the Manx Grand Prix Newcomers, we felt it was only fitting that something should go to a newcomer at Armoy.
This is something that we hope to build upon in the future – the newcomers are the future of the sport we all love.
Tracey and Personal Assistant Juan wished Rudi a very safe and successful Armoy, and we look forward to following his future in road racing.
In bright and sunny conditions the Ballymoney rider took fourteenth position in the Junior Support race on his Kawasaki 650 twin and was in fourteenth place in the wet Senior Support race when the race was red flagged after the leaders completed four laps and a result declared due to the weather conditions.
