Ready for Racing in the Silver Jubilee Year of Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races Sponsorship
Qualifying has concluded and roads will close for racing at 18:00 this evening (Saturday) as the Southern 100 Road Races Club marks the Silver Jubilee year of Blackford Financial Services Ltd’s sponsorship of the Pre-TT Classic Road Races.
For the past 25 years, Blackford Financial Services Ltd has played a major role in supporting the continued success and growth of the event, helping establish the Pre-TT Classic Road Races as one of the world’s premier classic motorcycle racing meetings.
After initially sponsoring individual races, Blackford Financial Services Ltd became title sponsor during the Southern 100’s Golden Anniversary year in 2005, a position they have proudly maintained for the past two decades.
Their continued backing has helped the meeting expand and evolve, with the programme now featuring twelve race classes across a ten-race schedule, successfully combining modern “Post-Classic” Superbikes alongside iconic machinery from the 1950s and 1960s.
Ahead of racing getting underway, Dave Smart, Director of Blackford Financial Services Ltd, reflected on the occasion and the enduring appeal of the event:

The excitement and buzz that you feel when this time comes round in the year, knowing it is the first Isle of Man road racing event in the Isle of Man calendar and what other events are to come.
Hearing the noise of the outfits on the grid waiting for the green light, the roaring of the engines as they set off down the Castletown bypass, witnessing the jockeying for position before Ballakeighan Corner and witnessing it all again just a few minutes later, lap after lap.
All the riders, mechanics, marshals, and too many others to name who ensure that us, the spectators have the most magnificent racing event to watch.
But last not least the commitment, dedication, expertise, and skill of all the people involved in the Southern 100 MCRC Ltd, especially the committee members and long-standing true icons of this club who put so much of their time and effort into making sure everyone enjoys these Friendly Races.
