Southern 100 Radio – Manx Radio 1368
Live commentaries of The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races have been broadcast by Manx Radio since 1964 and have varied from live slots during ‘normal’ broadcasts, to the now familiar dedicated race coverage and for the first time during the 2022 Pre-TT Classic Road Races, live coverage was provided for the practice sessions.
Southern 100 Racing are pleased to announce that our broadcast partners, Manx Radio are to provide a dedicated Southern 100 Radio Station for the duration of the 2022 races, from Monday 11th July at 18.00 (6.00pm) until Thursday 14th July and the conclusion of racing at 16.45 (4.45pm).
Southern 100 Radio – Manx Radio 1368 will broadcast on AM1368, Manx Radio Digital and FM around the Billown Course.
Regular anchor man Tim Glover will be at what he describes as the best commentary point in real road racing the Start-Finish Line on Castletown Bypass, with Rob Pritchard who made a very professional debut at the Pre-TT Classic at the end of May, at Cross Four Ways. Chris Kinley will as usual be in and around the Holding – Podium Area chatting to riders prior to their race and obtain the winners initial reactions at the end of each race.
The commentaries will be held together by Alex Brindley and Beth Espey with Simon Quine ensuring continuity at Broadcasting House.
Away from the practice and race coverage, Southern 100 Radio will broadcast Morning, Lunchtime and Afternoon Shows hosted by Chris Williams, Ben Hartley, and Chris Quirk, whilst Chris Pearson will look after the late evening ‘Chequered Flag’ programme. For those burning the mid-night oil, Overnight Track Tunes will be aired.
Included on Tuesday and Wednesday morning and afternoon shows will be past Southern 100 race commentaries.
