Thirty-Six Years Continuous Sponsorship from Isle of Man Steam Packet Company
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races will hit a remarkable milestone next year, celebrating the ferry operators 36-year sponsorship of the event, having firstly ‘come onboard’ as a race sponsor in 1987 and taken on the role of Title Sponsor of the July races in 1999, some 24-years ago.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is far more than ‘just the title sponsor’ for the July races which have been run since 1955 as they assist in many ways prior to, during and sometimes after the actual races, arranging and bringing over vital safety equipment and course furniture to ensure the safety of riders and enhance the fans and spectators experience.
Additionally, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company are very helpful to the club in getting our Competitors and Marshals from the adjacent islands over with special rates as well as helping us out providing the main prize for the Plaque Fund.
Club Secretary, Rachel Palmer said: ‘The Southern 100 Club have an excellent working relationship with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, built up through many years and they are always willing to assist us when necessary to ensure that the high safety standards we have set are maintained for the benefit of competitors and spectators alike and in assisting with travel arrangements for competitors and marshals.
