Key Takeaways from the Southern 100 2026 Media Launch
Following last Saturday’s Media Launch, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races are set for a standout year with key announcements across the event schedule, long-term sponsorship and an exciting rider line-up.
Taking place from 6th–9th July 2026, the “Friendly Races” continue to evolve whilst staying true to the format that has made the event a highlight of the road racing calendar.
Enhanced Schedule for 2026
The core structure of the week remains familiar, with evening qualifying and racing sessions across Monday to Wednesday followed by Championship Day on Thursday.
A key update for 2026 is the introduction of a new Wednesday morning qualifying session, designed to:
- Provide riders with additional track time
- Improve flexibility in the event of weather disruption
There is also a change to the running order on Championship Day with the Solo Championship Race now closing the meeting and the Sidecar Championship Race moves to the penultimate race.

Steam Packet Extends to 2028
One of the major announcements from the launch was the confirmation that the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company will continue as Headline Sponsor through to 2028.
The long-standing partnership, now approaching four decades, remains central to the event, supporting not only sponsorship but also:

- Travel for competitors and marshals
- Fan travel packages and growing day-trip options
- The renewed agreement will also see the introduction of a new podium and continued investment in course safety infrastructure.
