Southern 100 Marshals Tribute to Peter Oates
During the short ‘lunch break’ on Championship Day at the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races, retiring Clerk of Course, Peter Oates received a special presentation from the Southern 100 Marshals Association.
Chief Marshal, Peter Chadwick, accompanied by his Deputies, Juan Crawley and Miles Corlett presented a suitably engraved gift recognising the 40-year’s Peter Oates has been officiating at the Southern 100 and the Pre-TT and Post TT Road Races.
Peter Chadwick said: ‘The Marshals obviously have a close working relationship with the Clerk of Course and during my twelve years, firstly as Deputy Chief Marshal and the last six as Chief Marshal, Peter has been most helpful and supportive of the Southern 100 Marshals, listening to their thoughts and views and providing advice.
‘The Southern 100 Marshals Association felt it was appropriate to acknowledge his support and his service to the ‘friendly races’ and present him with a special gift.
